NAP TIME PAMPERING: 5 TIPS FOR A QUICK PICK ME UP

IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU!

As a first time mom and wife of a medical student, it can sometimes feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders. My husband is currently doing a rotation that keeps him away from 5 am to 7 pm every night, not including 30+ hour days, a couple times a week. A schedule like that doesn't give me much opportunity to carve out time for just me.

I realized, I needed me time, even if it was only during a quick nap. I thought about the things that would make me feel rested and rejuvenated in a short amount of time. Because let's be honest, if I don't take care of myself, I'm in no position to take care of Evie, the pups or our home.

Here are the 5 things that I do to help me feel relaxed and refreshed:
(The best part is this all can all be done during nap time, MOM WIN!)

1. Take a quick shower
A shower is one of the easiest ways to perk yourself up and feel refreshed without much time or effort. I always do my pampering sessions on days I don't need to wash my hair, this cuts down on shower and getting ready time. During my shower, I enjoy using a invigorating body wash to wake me up. {Whoosh shower Jelly from Lush has an energizing, citrus scent.}

2. Moisturize my skin
I put on a  thick body cream to rehydrate my skin. Sometimes I'll use this time to put on a self tanner to refresh my complexion. I make sure to avoid my chest area since I am still breastfeeding. {St. Tropez Tanning Mousse is my go to, fail proof tan.}

3. Put on a Face Mask
Nothing feels more luxuries than putting on a face mask. It instantly makes me feel like I've been transported to a spa. I like to keep several different types of face masks on hand to tackle different skin concerns. {Dr. Jart Hydrating sheet mask is a must have for dry climates.}

4. Paint my Nails
Since I'm short on time, this isn't when I do a full on manicure or pedicure. This is a time for a no frills, polish change for my fingers or toes, whichever need a pick me up more. Painting my nails is definitely not a necessity, but it is something that makes me feel girly and like myself. I can lose sight of the small things that make me feel like me and become consumed with what make me a mom. If something as simple as changing my nail polish helps with that, then why not. {Formula X travel kit and Butter London polish in Slapper}

5. Read, Relax and Enjoy
While my nails dry, this is the prefect time for me to sit back, relax and read. I like to grab a cup of coffee. 9 out of 10  times, I will pour my cold coffee over ice  with coconut milk and voila, instant iced latte. {Current Read: Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews}
