During the work day I love running over to Starbucks for a quick pick me up with coworkers. It is a nice break from my day and a fun time to catch up but my wallet and waistline beg to differ. 

For awhile I was on the hunt for some healthier options at Starbucks but was disappointed when I realized they didm''t have almond milk on the menu. I would rather stick with dairy than soy milk (I try to steer clear of GMOs). 

So, for awhile I just accepted that my Starbucks fate was one of compromise. I compromised and cut back my number of visits per week to keep my budget happy. When I did go I always ordered a Matcha Green Tea frap or latte coordinating with the weather.

A couple weeks ago, I got to thinking, at home I make my Matcha tea with just Matcha powder and water. I wonder if Starbucks would do the same?  This would allow me to avoid dairy in my coffee drinks. So I decided to ask one of the baristas if it would be possible to make my Matcha latte with just hot water.

Ask and you shall receive. I was informed me that they can do a Grande add Matcha powder, hot or cold drink for a total of only .86 cents.  Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too. 

Now, whenever my friends want a quick break to get office,  I'm always up for it (so is my wallet and waistline!)
