ABOUT TOWN: BEAST & BOTTLE

Is anyone else ambivalent toward Sundays? In one sense Sunday signifies the end of the weekend and the on set of my hectic work week but on the opposite end of the spectrum, Sunday is truly my fun day. It is a time for me to rejuvenate  both socially and introspectively. A typical Sunday for my usually includes church, time with family and friends, and then a variety of community and self reflective activities.

One of my favorite aspects about Sundays(well, weekends in general) are the opportunities to venture upon new brunch spots. Denver has so many new restaurants, that I find it impossible to try out to them all (but that doesn't prevent me from trying).

My friend and I decided to meet up for brunch at Beast + Bottle this afternoon. This farm to fork restaurant looked like it had been plucked from the Napa Valley region with its sophisticated, country decor. The menu continued with the same wine country theme and did not disappoint offering unique combinations for a mature palate such as deconstructed eggs benedict and brioche french toast with seasonal jam.

I ordered the waitress' favorite item from the brunch menu, sweet corn saffron waffles with an over easy egg topping it off. To wash it all down I added black coffee and a pomegranate mimosa.

Verdict says: The flavor of the waffle was amazing. The savory from the corn and the sweetness of the maple syrup blended together seamlessly.  The ricotta was a bit soggy and didn't seem to add much in terms of flavor to the overall dish. I found myself picking around it on my plate. The portion size was enough to share and I ended up talking half home to my husband, who was at home studying (life of a med school student).

My only disappointment for the meal was the poma mimosa, which was mostly pomegranate juice. I wasn't sure if there was any sparking wine included at all. Note to self on future trips to Beast + Bottle: Order something else off the drink menu such as a Bloody Mary, which looked delicious or sparkling wine.

I took a peek at their dinner menu and am already contemplating a future date night return with the hubby.
